Morrisound Recording
Morrisound RecordingIf you are music artist living in Florida you probably know about Morrisound Recording. If you are fan of death metal and thrash metal bands you probably know about Morrisound Recording. You may even be from as far away as Detroit and still know about Morrisound Recording for its long history of recording in all genres. For those of you unfamiliar with Morrisound Recording here is a quick overview. Morrisound Recording is a notable audio recording studio in Temple Terrace, FL (northeast of Tampa) and is owned and operated by brothers Jim and Tom Morris. Since opening in 1981, Morrisound has been a popular studio for death metal and thrash metal bands. It also caters to all other genres of recorded music. Resident producer Scott Burns is responsible for much of the studio's output of metal recordings. The studio is nestled among large oak trees in a quiet and comfortable setting, but is just minutes away from many popular restaurants, shopping malls, and a variety of accommodations. Morrisound's "A" Studio is a large room where many church choirs and orchestras have been recorded. Many live broadcasts of the nationally syndicated "Rockline" radio show have emanated from Morrisound's "A" Studio featuring such well known acts as Little Feat, Robert Plant, Ozzy Osborne, The Rembrandts, Third Eye Blind, and many others. Their "B" Studio works great for demo projects or as an overdub room for projects that begin in Studio "A." Morrisound Recording, Inc. began life in June of 1981 as a mobile 8 track analog recording system built into a "Hi Cube" van (not too different from a delivery truck). The original staff included Jim Morris, Tom Morris, Laurel Morris (perhaps this has a connection with the name Morrisound) and Rick Miller. After picking a rental location in Tampa with the highest available ceilings, Morrisound became the first new 24 track facility on the west coast of Florida. Four years after opening the building, the studio had outgrown the original storefront and moved up to an empty, wooded lot in the north end of Tampa near the University of South Florida. This is the current site of Morrisound Recording. Although Morrisound has continuously updated their equipment, the basic rooms have remained the same since. If you are looking for a job with Morrisound Recording you can check their site to see if they have any jobs posted. Morroisound is also planning new upgrades to Studios "A" and "B" in the near future. |
